Block 36:

The Northeast corner of Azusa Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. The Redevelopment Agency began its effort to gradually acquire the site since the late 1980’s with the anticipation to develop it. The City Council attempted to secure a developer over the last ten years and entered into exclusive negotiations with two developers. Two years ago, the entire block, which housed small businesses and a designated public parking, was demolished. Both developers failed to commit to the project for lack of financial backing. Currently, the site is an open space filled with dirt and a temporary public parking lot.
