Gateway Committee

The Gateway Committee was created by the Azusa City Council and its members were selected by the previous City Manager, Rick Cole. It was comprised of business owners, residents, Azusa Pacific University, City Staff, and the Azusa Unified School District.

The Committee met for eighteen months and accomplished three major tasks.

  • Developed public art guidelines;
  • Evaluated the aesthetic value of public art and identified three major corridors for entry monuments in the City;
  • Solicited, received, and reviewed proposals from prospective artists and made recommendations to the City Council.

The recommendations were received and have been implemented. Paul Naccachian was a member and the spokesperson in presenting the Committee recommendations to the City Council.
