Main Street Four Corner Concept:

The revitalization effort takes on the tasks of organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring of the commercial areas of downtown. It works to encourage reinvestment and preservation, and to entice businesses, customers, visitors, and downtown residents into the historic district.

Organization: The task is to build a consensus by getting everyone working toward the same goal. Using a volunteer-driven program with an organizational structure of a governing board and committees and utilizing the collaboration effort between the local Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association, local businesses and other key organizations are essential components.

Promotion: The task is to capitalize on selling a positive image that offers unique characteristics to visitors, new businesses, shoppers and investors.

An effective promotion strategy forges this positive image through advertising, retail promotional events and activities, special events and marketing campaigns carried out by volunteers.

Design: The task is to create an inviting atmosphere that conveys a visual message about what the commercial district is and what it has to offer.  Whether it is through window displays, building improvements, landscaping, and parking displays, design means that the Main Street is in top physical shape.

Economic Restructuring: The task is to strengthen community’s economic assets while diversifying the economic base. By helping existing businesses expand and recruiting new ones to respond to today’s market, Main Street programs help convert unused and underutilized space into productive property and sharpen the competitiveness and profitability of businesses.
